Population and Sample
Sample
A sample is a subset of data that a researcher picks from a broader population using a pre-determined procedure. Sample points, sampling units, and observations are all terms used to describe these aspects. Creating a sample is a time-effective way to conduct research. In most circumstances, researching the whole population is either impossible or too expensive and time-consuming. As a result, looking at the sample yields information that the researcher may apply to the complete population.
Sampling
Sampling
is a method of choosing individuals or a part of the population to derive statistical conclusions and calculate population characteristics. For
optimal derivation, sampling approaches can be applied in research survey
software.
Two types of sampling techniques
used in research
· Probability
· Non-probability
Probability Sampling
A
probability sample may be divided into four categories.
ü Simple random sampling
ü Systematic sampling
ü Stratified sampling
ü Cluster sampling
Non-probability
A non-probability
sample may be divided into four categories.
ü quota sampling
ü convenience sampling
ü purposive sampling
ü snowball sampling.
